2 Samuel 7:1-17

[1]

Now when the king dwelt in his house, and the LORD had given him rest from
all his enemies round about,

[2] the king said to Nathan the prophet, "See now, I dwell in a house of
cedar, but the ark of God dwells in a tent."
[3] And Nathan said to the king, "Go, do all that is in your heart; for
the LORD is with you."
[4]

But that same night the word of the LORD came to Nathan,

[5] "Go and tell my servant David, `Thus says the LORD: Would you build me
a house to dwell in?
[6] I have not dwelt in a house since the day I brought up the people of
Israel from Egypt to this day, but I have been moving about in a tent for
my dwelling.
[7] In all places where I have moved with all the people of Israel, did I
speak a word with any of the judges of Israel, whom I commanded to
shepherd my people Israel, saying, "Why have you not built me a house of
cedar?"'
[8] Now therefore thus you shall say to my servant David, `Thus says the
LORD of hosts, I took you from the pasture, from following the sheep, that
you should be prince over my people Israel;
[9] and I have been with you wherever you went, and have cut off all your
enemies from before you; and I will make for you a great name, like the
name of the great ones of the earth.
[10] And I will appoint a place for my people Israel, and will plant them,
that they may dwell in their own place, and be disturbed no more; and
violent men shall afflict them no more, as formerly,
[11] from the time that I appointed judges over my people Israel; and I
will give you rest from all your enemies. Moreover the LORD declares to
you that the LORD will make you a house.
[12] When your days are fulfilled and you lie down with your fathers, I
will raise up your offspring after you, who shall come forth from your
body, and I will establish his kingdom.
[13] He shall build a house for my name, and I will establish the throne
of his kingdom for ever.
[14] I will be his father, and he shall be my son. When he commits
iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, with the stripes of the
sons of men;
[15] but I will not take my steadfast love from him, as I took it from
Saul, whom I put away from before you.
[16] And your house and your kingdom shall be made sure for ever before
me; your throne shall be established for ever.'"
[17] In accordance with all these words, and in accordance with all this
vision, Nathan spoke to David.

Acts 18:1-11

[1]

After this he left Athens and went to Corinth.

[2] And he found a Jew named Aq'uila, a native of Pontus, lately come from
Italy with his wife Priscilla, because Claudius had commanded all the Jews
to leave Rome. And he went to see them;
[3] and because he was of the same trade he stayed with them, and they
worked, for by trade they were tentmakers.
[4] And he argued in the synagogue every sabbath, and persuaded Jews and
Greeks.
[5]

When Silas and Timothy arrived from Macedo'nia, Paul was occupied with
preaching, testifying to the Jews that the Christ was Jesus.

[6] And when they opposed and reviled him, he shook out his garments and
said to them, "Your blood be upon your heads! I am innocent. From now on I
will go to the Gentiles."
[7] And he left there and went to the house of a man named Titius Justus,
a worshiper of God; his house was next door to the synagogue.
[8] Crispus, the ruler of the synagogue, believed in the Lord, together
with all his household; and many of the Corinthians hearing Paul believed
and were baptized.
[9] And the Lord said to Paul one night in a vision, "Do not be afraid,
but speak and do not be silent;
[10] for I am with you, and no man shall attack you to harm you; for I
have many people in this city."
[11] And he stayed a year and six months, teaching the word of God among
them.

Mark 8:11-21

[11]

The Pharisees came and began to argue with him, seeking from him a sign
from heaven, to test him.

[12] And he sighed deeply in his spirit, and said, "Why does this
generation seek a sign? Truly, I say to you, no sign shall be given to
this generation."
[13] And he left them, and getting into the boat again he departed to the
other side.
[14]

Now they had forgotten to bring bread; and they had only one loaf with
them in the boat.

[15] And he cautioned them, saying, "Take heed, beware of the leaven of
the Pharisees and the leaven of Herod."
[16] And they discussed it with one another, saying, "We have no bread."
[17] And being aware of it, Jesus said to them, "Why do you discuss the
fact that you have no bread? Do you not yet perceive or understand? Are
your hearts hardened?
[18] Having eyes do you not see, and having ears do you not hear? And do
you not remember?
[19] When I broke the five loaves for the five thousand, how many baskets
full of broken pieces did you take up?" They said to him, "Twelve."
[20] "And the seven for the four thousand, how many baskets full of broken
pieces did you take up?" And they said to him, "Seven."
[21] And he said to them, "Do you not yet understand?"
