2 Samuel 9:1-13

[1]

And David said, "Is there still any one left of the house of Saul, that I
may show him kindness for Jonathan's sake?"

[2] Now there was a servant of the house of Saul whose name was Ziba, and
they called him to David; and the king said to him, "Are you Ziba?" And he
said, "Your servant is he."
[3] And the king said, "Is there not still some one of the house of Saul,
that I may show the kindness of God to him?" Ziba said to the king, "There
is still a son of Jonathan; he is crippled in his feet."
[4] The king said to him, "Where is he?" And Ziba said to the king, "He is
in the house of Machir the son of Am'miel, at Lo-debar."
[5] Then King David sent and brought him from the house of Machir the son
of Am'miel, at Lo-debar.
[6] And Mephib'osheth the son of Jonathan, son of Saul, came to David, and
fell on his face and did obeisance. And David said, "Mephib'osheth!" And
he answered, "Behold, your servant."
[7] And David said to him, "Do not fear; for I will show you kindness for
the sake of your father Jonathan, and I will restore to you all the land
of Saul your father; and you shall eat at my table always."
[8] And he did obeisance, and said, "What is your servant, that you should
look upon a dead dog such as I?"
[9]

Then the king called Ziba, Saul's servant, and said to him, "All that
belonged to Saul and to all his house I have given to your master's son.

[10] And you and your sons and your servants shall till the land for him,
and shall bring in the produce, that your master's son may have bread to
eat; but Mephib'osheth your master's son shall always eat at my table."
Now Ziba had fifteen sons and twenty servants.
[11] Then Ziba said to the king, "According to all that my lord the king
commands his servant, so will your servant do." So Mephib'osheth ate at
David's table, like one of the king's sons.
[12] And Mephib'osheth had a young son, whose name was Mica. And all who
dwelt in Ziba's house became Mephib'osheth's servants.
[13] So Mephib'osheth dwelt in Jerusalem; for he ate always at the king's
table. Now he was lame in both his feet.

Acts 19:1-10

[1]

While Apol'los was at Corinth, Paul passed through the upper country and
came to Ephesus. There he found some disciples.

[2] And he said to them, "Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you
believed?" And they said, "No, we have never even heard that there is a
Holy Spirit."
[3] And he said, "Into what then were you baptized?" They said, "Into
John's baptism."
[4] And Paul said, "John baptized with the baptism of repentance, telling
the people to believe in the one who was to come after him, that is,
Jesus."
[5] On hearing this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
[6] And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Spirit came on
them; and they spoke with tongues and prophesied.
[7] There were about twelve of them in all.
[8]

And he entered the synagogue and for three months spoke boldly, arguing
and pleading about the kingdom of God;

[9] but when some were stubborn and disbelieved, speaking evil of the Way
before the congregation, he withdrew from them, taking the disciples with
him, and argued daily in the hall of Tyran'nus.
[10] This continued for two years, so that all the residents of Asia heard
the word of the Lord, both Jews and Greeks.

Mark 8:34-9:1

[34]

And he called to him the multitude with his disciples, and said to them,
"If any man would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his
cross and follow me.

[35] For whoever would save his life will lose it; and whoever loses his
life for my sake and the gospel's will save it.
[36] For what does it profit a man, to gain the whole world and forfeit
his life?
[37] For what can a man give in return for his life?
[38] For whoever is ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and
sinful generation, of him will the Son of man also be ashamed, when he
comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels."
Mark.9
[1] And he said to them, "Truly, I say to you, there are some standing
here who will not taste death before they see that the kingdom of God has
come with power."
